Hello and welcome.
My name is Troy Harwood-Jones. I live in Winnipeg, Canada. I am a sometimes writer. Due in large part to the influence of a particularly good collection of friends (surviving still at housesofvalor.proboards.com), I began writing. It is an on-again, off-again passion. Honestly, I mostly love to be finished writing.
Looking back, I have actually done a fair amount of writing my whole life. And when I'm not writing, I'm telling stories. It's a very fundamental part of who I am.
This website is intended to be a loose collection of my various writings. I'm not sure anyone will even see it. I mostly created it for myself so that I wouldn't lose them, and with the vague hope that gathering these stories together might inspire me to write more, and better. I probably should just join a writing group. Not sure why I haven't. Maybe I'm just lazy.
"The Underhill" is a playful reference to one of my imaginary characters, Nedward Underhill, who I invented while playing the game World of Warcraft. Nedward is a gnome, that is, a member of an imaginary race of three-foot tall, generally silly people with squeeky voices, rosy smiling faces, and little round bodies like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Their general cheeriness is precisely why I imagined Nedward to be like "Grumpy" from the Seven Dwarfs. Actually, Grumpy is rather tame in comparison. Nedward complains about EVERYTHING. A lot. Particularly various outrageously exaggerated physical ailments (like, for example, "Osteoarthritisotis"). Turns out, pretending to be a grumpy old curmudgeonly gnome comes very easily to me. Go figure. |
Happy reading. If you like anything, feel free to say so. And if you don't, I never asked for your opinion
